Electronic power transmission and distribution technology is emerging as a driving force for grid modernization. Electronictization is the foundation for transforming the grid from traditionally electrical and electromechanical only to electronic, electrical and electromechanical. The inaugural IEEE Workshop on Electronic Power Transmission and Distribution (eT&D) is collocated and co-hosted by IPEMC 2016-ECCE Asia. It is open for all and will have highly-focused, invitation-only presentations from government, industry and academia. Key players cross the globe, in both power electronics and electric power systems (including utilities), will present their view of the state of the art, the challenges and opportunities on all major topics in the domain. Participants will come together towards the end to develop a going forward plan, including the future format and frequency of this workshop.

Topics of the Presentation

Microgrids and renewables integration
Electronic power transformers
Smart power converters/inverters
Circuit breakers and protection apparatus
High power devices & components
High temperature passive devices

Power system control and stability
Harmonics and compensation
Energy storage and energy balance
Fault management and fault isolation
Power system reliability & energy availability
Intelligent systems and sensors
Grid resiliency
